HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!
So while I don't have my scented green topcoat on today, I do have something just as special. Every St. Patrick's day I wear my amethyst four leaf clover ring. My mom gave me this when I graduated fifth grade. My family doesn't usually give gifts for frivolous little celebrations like graduations and such, so it was very surprising and has been very, very dear to me ever since. My birthstone is amethyst and I find lots and lots of four leaf clovers (a fact I was very proud of around the time of my fifth grade graduation), so this ring has always been very special not only because it was a gift from my mom but because it is so unique and personal.
Zoya Midori, Zoya Veruschka, China Glaze GR8, & NYC White Lights Glitter
For my St. Patrick's Day manicure, I began with three coats of Zoya Midori. For the fauxnad design (yup, I bought this plate just for St. Patty's!), I painted Zoya Veruschka and China Glaze GR8. I was trying to give the clovers gilded edges, but since Midori has so much gold already in it, the edges kind of blended in (you can see it better if you click on the picture to enlarge). Then I topped with one coat of NYC White Lights Glitter, a great sparkly topcoat.
When I was younger, I would get so excited about St. Patrick's day because the leprechaun always came and left a surprise for my sister and I :) My parents had a ton of small green footprints that they cut out of construction paper. They made a path all through the house with the footprints (as if the leprechaun had come through and run through the house to hide his pot of gold). We would follow the trail of green footprints from the front door, over the grandfather clock, up walls, through ceilings, out the window, and up the stairs. Each year our pot of gold was hidden somewhere different, and the footprint path was always different. And the pot of gold? Rolos and Reese's peanut butter cups :) My parents did all kinds of special things like this for us, and their creativity really amazes me. It was always so much fun for my sister and me!
I'm Irish and REALLY looking forward to celebrating tonight with a totally green meal and a big glass of green milk :) Perhaps I can find some time to squeeze in a showing of one of my all-time favorite movies (and a St. Patty's classic): Darby O'Gill and the Little People!!

Aww! It's cute that your parents did that for you :) I love reading other people's fun stories like that... The nails look great, by the way. I wish I had a clover to use for today!
Thanks so much Polish Hoarder!! I appreciate that you took the time to read about my traditions :)
Your parents must be adorable people. My mom did a similar thing at Easter-time :) I really need to try Midori, man. I keep seeing it around on blogz as of late...and I have it, I just haven't busted it out yet! Your nails look awesome :)

I loved this story from your childhood! And your mani is very beautiful and appropriate for the festive day (although I don't know well this day). It's funny to think of green food and drinks:)
Let's sing it together! "Oh, She is my dear, my darling one, my smiling and beguiling one. No other, no other, could match the likes of her!"
Sung by Sean Connery in Darby O'Gill!
